Panel: Why Marketplace Missions Matters But Isn’t a Silver Bullet

How can believers of all educational and vocational backgrounds use their skills in the marketplace for the Great Commission? In this episode, you’ll hear an expert panel address this topic at Cedarville University.

The discussion was led by Matt Bennett, Assistant Professor of Missions and Theology at Cedarville. Also joining the conversation are David Butler, NAMB missionary leading the SEND Boston program, Kyle Peterson, deputy director of Cedarville’s entrepreneurial accelerator program, along with Scott Dunford and Alex Kocman.

  1. I’m very glad you did a podcast on marketplace missions. I understand why you titled your dialogue “WHY MARKETPLACE MISSIONS MATTERS BUT ISN’T A SILVER BULLET”. You did not give any scripture as a basis for marketplace ministry. There were only a couple words that were only allusions to what the Bible does say about it. There was no statement of truth from scripture that points to the HIGH value of marketplace ministry in the work of God. Paul gave it all through the NT. If you understood what the Bible says about this, you would have titled this dialogue differently, would be practicing ministry differently, and thus would have spoken very differently.

Has anyone said marketplace ministry is a “silver bullet” for the work of God and you are responding to them? If so, I would like to know where it came from.

I’m hoping you can dialogue with believers who disagree with you and have scripture to offer.
